Guest Blogger Visits KBIS

Jamie Goldberg,  a NKBA-certified, independent kitchen designer, from Tampa Florida,  writes the blog Gold Notes.   Jamie was kind enough to offer to scout out the latest KBIS, which stands for the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show, to look for new products that Cote de Texas readers might be interested in.   Here, Jamie presents what she found.   Be sure to pay her blog a visit for more goodies she discovered.     Thank you Jamie!!!!

Before I headed to Atlanta for the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show, I promised Joni I’d keep my eye out for products I thought fellow Cote de Texas readers would enjoy, particularly those featuring the old world elegance she brings you in so many of her blog images and postings…

So here are my KBIS bons bons. Hope you enjoy!

AND THE AWARD GOES TO…

This beautiful range hood won the Best of KBIS “People’s Choice Award,” and it’s easy to see why. The Star by Elica is all glamour and glitz. It’s neither practical nor powerful -- at only 350 recirculating CFM, it barely outpulls an over-the-range microwave -- but it sure is pretty!

MOTIVO MAGNIFICENCE

Caesarstone is well known for high-style stone countertops. Last year, they introduced their exquisite jeweled Concetto series. This year, they’ve outdone themselves with Motivo, a delicately-embossed surface that tops cabinets or resurfaces walls and furniture. It still brings the durability and easy-maintenance of quartz, but now it looks like nothing you’ve seen before and can’t get enough of. Can’t wait to use this in a client’s home!

ROYAL FLUSH

These beautiful Waza Collection Miyabe commodes and pedestal sinks from Japanese plumbing leader Toto would enhance any throne room, in my opinion. They’re hand-painted porcelain and evoke images of historic Japan.

QUE SEURA SEURA

Another Best of KBIS product award winner, Seura’s mirrors lead a secret life. When they’re not reflecting your visage, they’re broadcasting your favorite channel. Yes, Seura makes those clever televisions-concealed-in-mirrors you may have encountered in a hotel room. The bons bons for Cote de Texas followers are the beautiful frames they’re now adorned in. The view never looked so good before!

MASTER SWEET

Imagine yourself tucked comfortably into your master suite at the end of a very long day. The kids are asleep. You’re finally relaxed – and thirsty! But the kitchen is downstairs at the other end of the house. You step into your master bath instead and pour a glass of fresh, cold water from your beautiful faucet. Your beautiful filtered faucet, that is. No chlorine after-taste, and no ugly spigot or plastic attachment to mar your magnificent remodel. Rohl has introduced a line of traditional lavatory faucets with integrated filters.

HARP WARMING

It will warm your heart and towels, while delighting your eye with its lovely lines. The Adagio by Turkish manufacturer Termosan Inc. brings form to function and delightful whimsy to your master suite.

PORTO CALLING

I found myself very drawn to Portuguese manufacturer Cifial’s Porto collection of door hardware, especially in the company’s Rough Bronze finish. They have an old world quality that transports you to another time and place. Imagine turning the handle and stepping into Renaissance era Lisbon. I can easily see a pair of these on the entry to a traditional-styled, grand master suite. I haven’t specified this line before, but I’m looking forward to doing so soon!

These are just a few of the great products on display at North America’s largest kitchen and bath trade show. Maybe you’ve seen its hour long special on HGTV before. These are the pieces I thought Cote de Texas readers might enjoy most.
